Almost Christmas/ Holiday?

It is 5 days before Christmas, but yet it does not seem too Christmasy. Yeah I made that up the word christmasy, but when ever you are in doubt of needing an adjective to descibe something that is an event, holiday, or somethings of that matter just add a -y or -ish to the end of the word. For example orangeish or computery. It just means that it is not quite orange, just slightly orange; or it just has something to do with computers. Christmasy is just a word to describe the amount Christmas or sense of Christmas. To get back on track though it does not seem like Christmas is near. It feels like it is just another cold day in mid January with snow on the ground. Maybe it does not feel like Christmas time because now it has turned into Holiday. Christmas does not equal Holiday. A holiday is any day which is recognized for a reason. Now a days we have just capitalized it and made it noun to be less offensive. How long have people been saying Merry Christmas for anyways? When someone says Merry Christmas it is extremely unlikely that they are actually meaning it to be offense and mean the celebration of Christ's birth. Christmas has become such a material holiday that the first thing that comes to peoples minds when someone says Merry Christmas is Santa and presents. I say Merry Christmas to people all the time and never once have I ever gotten chewed out or corrected to saying it instead of happy holidays. People are too sensitive if they have the time to correct you about a saying that has been said for hundreds of years. I like Christmas for the actually meaning and the material holiday it has turned into, but why worry about one little common saying: Merry Christmas! I hope you have a good one too!

Saints Go Marching Down

Well last night the Saints finally faced defeat. It only seemed a matter of time to me because of very close wins of the the past few games. They have had a game go into overtime because they battled back and scored a touchdown in the last few minutes of the game. Also in other games where they were down in the fourth quarter, but they found a way to win. Good football teams can come back and win, but not every single game can be like this though because you are eventually play a good team and not be able to come back and win. If I could name on team that has had lots of luck this season it would be the Saints. Just for the perfect example the Cowsboys kicker missed a 2o some yard field goal with less than three minutes left in the game and already being ahead by a touchdown. Here is a video of how lucky the Saints were in this game even though they lost. This link will take you to the video: Cowboys misses 24 yard field goal. He hit the right field goal post! Had the kicker made the field goal the game would have been over, but of course the Saints at least had a chance to score again and send the game into overtime or win it with a two point conversion. The Cowboys defense played hard and Ware forced a fumble when he sacked Brees with twelve seconds left.

Now I normally wouldn't be blogging about either team, but the loss for the Saints does effect the Vikings. As I stated the Vikings are 11 and 2 and the previously undefeated Saints, now 13 and 1, were the two main teams fighting for home field advantage in the playoffs. With this loss it helps the Vikings have a better chance at winning the advantage. While the Vikings still have to win their last few game they still only have a small chance. If you look at the two remaining games for the Saints you see that they finish the season on a pretty easy note. They have to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the North Carolina Panthers. Only the Panthers have a winning record of the two. So still the Saint losing one more game it is not very likely, but I guess to think with a more positive attitude anything is possible. It is not like I do not like the Saints, but I like the Vikings better and they are competing for the same thing and for the best record in the NFC. I will just have to wait and see how things play out for the next two weeks.

Pre- Sunday Night Football

VS.

After an important win last Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals the Vikings continue their journey to a bright playoff future. With the win they did clinch a playoff spot, but they have yet to clinch their division because of the dumb cheese headed Green Bay Packers. Who in the world would be proud to be called a Cheese Head anyways? Since the Vikings did happen to beat the Packers both times in the regular season this year they do have the tie breaker if their records stand to be equal in the end, but it will not so no big deal. The Packers are fighting for a wild card spot though, and have a pretty good chance at getting it. I will let the Packers carry on on their own, but what I am concerned about is the Vikings.

This week they travel down to south Carolina to play the Panthers. The Vikings are 11 and 2 while the Panthers are 8 and 5. While the Vikings have already gained their way into the playoffs they look to clinch a division title. If they win they will win the Division and this will be the first time ever that they will have won the division two straight years in a row. For the Panthers their hope for a playoff spot is minimum but possible. This game is a must win as for the rest of their games, so in other words they need to win out to make it to the playoffs. You can guarantee that both teams will be playing hard because they both have something to lose and something to gain. While one team does have to win and lose, I hope that the loser is no the Vikings because I like them better as a team and I think that they have a better chance at winning the Super Bowl than the Panthers. If you go to the link named Sidney Rices Video you will get a feeling of why I also want the Vikings to win. I know that lots of NFL players have stories similar to this, but the fact that Sidney Rice has already noticed the need to give back to the community at such a young age is great. I also know that a lot of kids look up to NFL players and they are not necessarily the best role models, but if more did what Rice is doing, they would be good role models because they are showing that community is important and that you need to help the less fortunate.

Back to more about the game this is a battle between two very successful running backs. First Adrian Peterson, like always, for the Vikings and DeAngelo Williams for the Panthers. Both have rushed for more than one thousand yards for the season, and both are one of the primary leaders of their teams. Peterson should by statics have a better day running against the 26th ranked defense of the Panthers; while Williams has to rush against a Vikings running defense which is ranked 4th. It will be the two Williams on the Vikings defensive line versus Williams, the running back. In the end I believe the Vikings will be able to stop the Panther primarily running offense, and that their offense will be able to score some points with some explosion players. By the way congratulation to Adrian Peterson for setting a Vikings record of 14 touchdowns in a season, and likely to only getting bigger. Lastly I wish the best for the recovery for Percy Harvin who has been suffering from severe migraines for the past two weeks. Go Vikings!

I have not been getting in my game score predictions so I will try again. here it is:

Vikings: 38 Panthers: 13

Winter Weather

Now many people have heard and around the United States of America were commonly affected by the same thing. This one thing would be weather. Now were I live that weather happened to be snow. Not just a little bit, but more like three snow days worth of snow. It turned out to actually be a blizzard because of the high winds afterwards. I just wanted to focus in on how something like weather can affect so many people.

Like in one of my previous blogs I talked about the importance of just one tiny little second of time. Now we had just another good example happen just last week. the storm reached from Colorado all the way to the East Coast at some point. This isn't very standard, thankfully, but it does happen. It is just one of those things that you know is coming or is going to happen but you are still surprise at its great effect it has. It is like a scary movie and you always jump even though you know that the guy is going to be standing in the mirror. This snow storm was predicted yet it surprised many people and even made world news. I guess the moral is a moral that has been in existence a while, but here it is: Expect the Unexpected or Anthing can Happen.

Vikings Come Back Strong

After a very disappointing performance against the Arizonia Cardinals this weeks game against the Cincinnati Bengals was much better. However before I get into to much about the Vikings vs. Bengals game there was something I wanted to still mention about last weeks game. It is anout E.J. Henderson. If you have not seen what happened during the game I included a video, so here it is so you know where I am coming from when I talk about this.

This is really a hurting moment for both E. J. and the Vikings team as a whole. He was one of the team captians for the Vikings and a leader. Last year he battled against an ingury to be able to come back. He is a pretty good linebacker and is an important key in stopping the run game. His younger brother actually plays for the Vikings too. It was just a scary and sad time. This ingury may end his football job depending on how bad it really was and how good it heals up. The Vikings will sure miss him on and off the field while they continue their hunt for a Super Bowl win.

Today the Vikings beat the Bengals. This game was never really in doubt that the Vikings would win. They lead the entire game. One thing that I really liked about this game was that Peterson was finally out and about again. He seemed to be a little bit more like himself this game and held onto the ball. He didn't quite have 100 yards, but he got two touchdowns. That brought his total on the season for rushing touchdowns to 14. This is a Vikings franchise record, and it will only get harder to beat with a few game remaining in the season. Also the Vikings were able to put up some points on a Bengals defense which have been playing pretty well and is one of the best defenses in the league. In todays game the Vikings did not even have Percy Harvin playing because of illness. Their defense played storng too. They allowed Carson Palmer to pass for only 94 yards. Also they held Cedric Benson under 100 yards rushing. It was nice to have Winfield back playing cornerback because he played well causing a fumble and making great tackles.

Next week the Vikings go to North Carolina and pay the Panthers a little visit. This game should not be too diffidult for the Vikings and they should be able to win it. The Vikings are 11 and 2 and have already clitched a playoff berth. Now if they win against the Panthers they will also clitch the division. Purple Power!

Heisman Trophy

Well this weekend the Heisman Trophy was given out. If you do not know what the Heisman is I will tell you. The Heisman trophy is given out to one collegian football player each year, this was the 75th anniversary, who demonstrates the being the most dominate player and influential leader in all college football. So I guess it is kind of like the MVP award like in other sports. It was held in New York City and is televised on ESPN.

This year the top five finalists were Mark Ingram, Tim Tebow, Colt McCoy, Toby Gerhart, and last and certainly not least Ndamukong Suh. The winner as you may know was Mark Ingram from Alabama. This was the first time in Alabama school history that the recipient of the Heisman went a Alabama player. It was nice to see Ingram win it for Alabama because it was their first, but in my opinion he was not necessarily the best recipient. While I probably have a slight bias opinion because I am a Nebraska fan and Suh was the Nebraska representative I still think that another person other than Suh should have won the award. This would have to be Toby Gerhart. While he went to Stanford and their team finished 8 and 4 I still think he was one of the best candidates. In his last few games he rushed for more than 200 yards in a single game for a couple of games. Gerhart actually got second in the running and lost the closest race for Heisman in history. I am sorry that I do not know where I originally heard this or who first said it, but I heard and I would agree that if Gerhart had been from a bigger school in the PAC 10 like USC he probably would have won it.

While I think that Gerhart may have gotten the rotten apple, I think that Suh could have won the Heisman too. A just defensive player has never won the Heisman before and I think Suh had the best chance out of anybody before. The fact that he still didn't win it and finished fourth in the standings just goes to show how much of an offensive award this really is. Even going farther the Heisman is an award more for quarterbacks and running backs. At least since 2000 all the winners have been quarterbacks or running backs. Actually in 2001 Eric Crouch, a former Nebraska quarterback, was the winner of the Heisman. Even against the odds Suh made it to the top five and finished fourth. Even the recipient of the best defensive player and numerous other awards this year can not win the Heisman. In his last game he showed his leadership for a defense and was one second away to pulling an upset in the Big 12 Championship against Texas. I think part of the reason why McCoy did not win the Heisman was because of Suh. McCoy finished third in the standings, but actually lost to Suh with the number of votes in the Big 12 area and this probably caused him the trophy. The following is a video I found on youtube and just kind of shows what I was trying to say above.
Here is another video of just the Texas game and the highlights of Suh in this game.
In this video I would think that anyone could see the power and influence one player had on this game. It is also very obvious that the Nebraska fans are very aware of the game and will really miss him when he leaves to become one of the highest draft picks in the NFL draft. Oh and by the way when ever you heard the crowd make a noise that sounded like a boo it was not it was a SSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Still Playing Strong

While I have been away from blogging about the Vikings not much has changed in their ways of playing, they are continuing to win. They are now 10 and 1. They just played the Bears last weekend and smoked them. They are now headed down to the desert to play the Arizona Cardinals.

They are playing Sunday night, tonight, at Arizona. There is quite a bit of chatter about this game because it is the top two conference leaders playing it out. Also you have the Farve vs Warner match up, which it sounds like Warner will be playing in the game. He was questionable because of a concussion which he sustained two games ago. This game is two future hall of famers battling it out. Both teams have an explosive offense. On Arizona's side they have one of the best wide recievers in the league. They also have other good targets to throw to like Boldin. Arizona's defense is also now starting to come together and they are getting pressure on the quarterbacks. On the Vikings side of offense they have widened their targets. Some main ones are Rice, Harvin, and Shiancoe. Then they always have Peterson and Chester as a two headed monster in the back field. Their defense is pretty sound too, with Allen getting plenty of sacks and putting pressure on the quarterbacks. The few weakness I see for the Vikings in this game are that Peterson has been fumbling the football again. These turn overs could be a deciding factor of the winner in this game. Also the Vikings secondary needs to play well tonight because Fitzgerald will be a big play maker for the Arizona offense. The Vikings are playing in Arizona so no home field advantage. Finally they just need to focus one game at a time and not look too far forward in the future, not look over any teams.

This game should be a pretty good one though. Each team is pretty good and this win could give the Vikings the division or at least a playoff birth. Yet again I want Peterson to be the atr in this game. I like having the Vikings win with Farve's arm, but seeing Peterson go for a big game will boost his confidence. Just right now it feels like Peterson isn't quite as convident and is now fumbling the football again. I believe that the Vikings should be able to win this game because of the way they have been playing recently. Purple Power!

My game prediction: Vikings 31 Cardnals 17

One Second Away

Have you ever came this close to winning something. For example you were in a drawing and your ticket number is 3625 and they call 3624, and you think to yourself that man if only you could have been in front of the guy who won. Well that is kind of what happened this weekend in the Big 12 Championship game. Number 3 Texas vs number 22 Nebraska; where Texas was a two touchdown favorite. At least when you are in a drawing your odds are the same as everyone else in the drawing.

This weekend of football was huge. With Florida losing to Alabama, and Cincinnati fighting back to defeat Pittsburgh. Then there was the Big 12 Championship. Apparently this game wasn't even suppose to be that good of a game, and in a way it really wasn't. The final was 13 to 12. Clearly Texas, the fourteen point favorite, had no problem bringing down the underdog Cornhuskers. Now I personally am a Huskers fan and take a lot of crap about how bad and stupid Nebraska is, but after this game I think this really show how much heart and determination the team has. The video I posted with this blog are the highlights if the game.I think the Neraska team showed lots of the respect for football, and their disappointment of a tough loss.As far as the refereeing in the game I will say something since the Nebraska team has enough respect to not. First of all I tough it was pretty crappy. As far as spotting the ball they screwed up twice. As far as calling pass interference even the television announcers did not agree with half the calls. My point is who is to say that the game clock stopped just right ever time a play ended or a time-out was called. The entire game honestly came down to one second. Colt McCoy practically lost the game for Texas because he didn't manage the clock and looked pretty lazy. He lost three yards on the last two plays before the field goal. Then at the end he lied straight through his teeth in front of the United States of America saying that he knew that there would be one second or two left when he threw that ball. I find that kind of funny because over the stadium thought that he just lost the game, but he knew. In my mind he should not win the Heisman Trophy.

Anyways Nebraska gave it their all and lost by the smallest margin, one point. Their defense was outstanding throughout the game. They had nine sacks on McCoy, and got three interceptions. Now they will still go to a Bowl game, and we will actually find out tonight. I acknowledge Suh and the defense and Henery for making 4 of 4 field goals. Henery is clutch. Finally for those who say that Nebraska fans aren't good travellers. Take a look and just listen and you will hear the crowd shout Suh and GO BIG RED!

Power of One and Time

As lots of people know there are many things in our lives that can change our world. For example, the death of a family member, a tragic accident, or winning an award. My question what if just ONE thing can change your life. One death, accident, or award.

Lets take a closer look at the number one. It is a three letter number. It is somebodies favorite number. It is often referred to being the best at something. It is almost always the number that you start with when you begin to count. It is pronounced the same as won, but has a different meaning. (I believe these are called homophones). As you should be able to see one in these cases one doesn't have too much meaning and can't really change much.

Now lets put the letter one in front of a few words and see if it then can make a change. One chance. One accident. One person. One hour, minute, or second. Just by putting a one in front of these words it can put emphasis, exaggeration, or stress on the sentence. Just like in real life just being able to have this one chance, and not being allowed to have second chances. Like in an accident where there is one death. You can not go back and change those one things. Then there are the times where you have one minute to complete a task as fast as you can. For example when you were a little kid trying to learn your multiplication tables and you had one minute to complete one hundred problems. If you were able to do it then you might have been given an award for doing excellent on your test.

The power of one can change your life in the matter of just one second. You are alive one second and dead the next. You are just an ordinary athlete on your team, but then a hero because you caught the winning touchdown. Anthing can happen. All it takes is one time for it to be done.

About Time

Finally this Saturday the Huskers got a win versus Baylor, in Waco, Texas. The past two weekends they played at home and lost both, which were both pretty embarrassing, especially the loss to Iowa State last week.

Yesterday, by the way hope you had a great Halloween, they switched their starting quarterback from Zack Lee to Cody Green. I don't know if this switch really helped or not, but at least they did win. The reason why I question if it really helped was because they still only won 20 to 10, and seven of those twenty points came from a special teams blocked punt returned for a touchdown. So what I guess am I trying to get across is that their offense still was not that great, but was able to get enough points to win. I also know that they must have gotten shut out in the entire second half of the game, because they got all twenty of their points in the first half. Green, a freshman, didn't even have that great of a game. He threw for one interception and had one fumble.

Even after all of this though the Blackshirts were able to pretty much hold the Bears to a single field goal. Even though the scoreboard said that they got ten points, the touchdown out of that came from the returned interception from Green in the third quarter. So the Balckshirts were pretty much lights out on defense. The player of the game would have to Jared Crick who led the Blackshirt defense with five sacks and thirteen tackles, many of these for a loss of yards.

Winning this game was a good win for the Huskers, especially since it was an away game. Winning this game put their record at 5 and 3. Two of their three losses were only by a difference of two points. They have only lost by more than a touchdown once this year. That means that they have a pretty good team they just haven't found much of a groove so some reason. Their offense is currently the thing that is losing them games for the most part, because their defense has been pretty solid. Anyways if they continue to win they will have a pretty good chance at a bowl game. Go Big Red!

Farve Returns Home

This weeks match up is again a very crucial game for the Vikings. I know that I seem like a broken record saying this, since I have said the past two games, but this game is the Vikings last game before their bye week. Also it is important because if they lose they will pretty much be tied for first in their division with the Green Bay Packer, and I would rather see the Vikings sweep the Packers this season. This game is also bigger than normal game because Farve is going back home.

Farve returning is just another storyline to add hype about the game. I mean they even moved it to the later afternoon game, because there really wasn't any other good games on at that time, so this game will get more view than it would have if it would have remained at the noon game. This game should be publized though. I mean it is kind of a big deal that Farve is returning to Green Bay for the first time not wearing a Packers jersey. I really want to see how the Packer fans are going to respond when Farve and the Vikings come out from the locker room. I mean I would expect boos, but I don't know maybe there are still some Farve fan laft in Green Bay cheering for the 40 year old, who won against the Packer on his birthday the last time they played.

Like I said above this game is a vital one for the Vikings, and like the last one it will be another difficult win for the Vikings. First of all it is at Green Bay, so the Packers will have the home field advantage. The Packers have just two losses and they are actually a pretty good team, so the Vikings will not be able to make mistakes, like the last game they lost because of just two turnovers. Their defense did a great job last game and needs to the same thing this weeks game, because the Packers do have a offense that could explode if not contained. I really, really, want to see Peterson get loose and just leave the entire Packer team in the dust. Maybe even lay someone out on the ground. Anyways I believe that the Vikings should be able to win this game. Go Peterson! Go Farve! Go Vikings! Go Purple!

My score prediction: Vikings 31 Packers 27

This Man is a Beast

In my last post I was clearly frustrated with the Huskers for loosing their game against Iowa State because they had a ridiculas eight turnovers. So hoping that the Vikings would be able to win a pretty tough game, I was able to watch the first half before I had a piano recital. It wasn't too bad, besides the fact the Vikings let the Steelers get a touchdown right before half time. Just like the Husker game though the turnovers killed the Vikings in the end. They only had two, but both of them were returned for touchdowns by the Steelers defense. Overall though it was a pretty good game even though they lost.

As stated before was one reason they did not win the game, off of turnovers. Another was a terrible call by a referee, which if he hadn't had just bad call would have resulted in a Vikings touchdown. That drive also happened to be one of the two that the Vikings turned the ball over and the Steelers got a touchdown. In result if the game had played out the exact same but without the play the Vikings would have won the game 24 to 20. Getting past this piont though the game was well fought on both ends of the ball and both teams did play to the very end, it was just unfortunate that the Steelers had to win and the Vikings lost, giving them their first loss of the season.

The main reason for me to blog about this was not because I wanted to blog about the Vikings loosing a close game, but about Adrian Peterson. Even though didn't doesn't seem like he is runing that well, or doing as well as he use to is because defenses now base their main defensive plan around him. They keep an eye on him every moment of the game, and when he does break out it is just his raw talent shining through. He is just such a threat that at times defenses have to put eight of thier eleven player up in the box, just to not let Peterson out and about. Now in the game against the Steelers he had just 69 rushing yards, but there was one play inparticular that was Peterson just showing you what he does best. Just watch!

This was the best part of the entire game. I have watched this video probably close to thirty times. I just love the announcers responses when they replay it. "Oooooh my Goodness" and,"This man is a BEAST" describe it perfectly. Then there is Peterson,"AWWwwwAwwww". Normally I don't like players doing this kind of thing, but this was well deserved. One example of a player doing a gesture that just wasn't needed was Holmes, a wide reciever of the Steelers, flexing his biscep pretty much after ever catch. First of all it got old real fast, and he did it no matter if it was a 5 yard catch to a 20 yard catch. It gets really lame man. But not to get too side tracked, go ahead and watch the video again, and again, and again....because this man is a beast.

So Easily Amused

This happened the other day when I had just gotten home from school. I had had XC practice and brought my dirty clothes home to be washed in a plastic bag. I put the the bag of clothes on the floor in my room and continued on with my day. It was in the evening and I was doing my homework in my room when I began to hear this really loud crinkly sound. I peered over the edge of my bed and saw Ditto laying there in side the bag with his Head sticking out of the opening. I must of forgotten to put away the bag after taking care of the clothes, and Ditto had found the bag. He was quite entertained by it too. When he saw me he crouched down deeper into the bag, and then pounced up towards me out of the bag. Then he quickly run under my dresser and hid among my shoes. Right then he saw it as a game. He would run along and crawl in to the bag and roll around in it. Then try and attack me and then go and hide. Lets just say that I did not get much homework done during those thirty minutes. He continued to play until he must have gotten tired and then just decided it was just good enough to lay and roll around in it. Ditto often does this kind of thing around the house, but with different things like pillows on the couch, he just likes to play and play hard.

A Brutal Battle

This weeks game, or I guess todays game, is yet another physical and brutal game. I know it may sound like I am repeating myself each week when I start off my blog but it is just so true that the games are vital in winning when playing another good team. Like last week that was the Vikings closest game yet this year, but they were able to win so it proves that the Viking may actually be a viable team this year to go deep into the playoffs. When there are only sixteen games in the regular season that doesn't leave much room for error.

Soooo, this week game like I stated about is going to be another bone crushing, hard fought battle to the very last second. The match up is a good one: Vikings vs. Steelers. Again the Steelers record is 4 and 2, but they are a much better team than what their record reads. In those two losses they were missing their key defensive player, Troy Palomalu, who got injured for those games. Now that he will be back for this game this boosts and already solid defense, so offensively it is vital that they convert on third downs and do not have many if any mistakes, like turnovers. Also the Steelers now seem to have switched from primarily running the ball to passing the ball. They have not abanded he run game, but just have been throwing the ball more and more effectively. This is not good news for the Vikings because Winfield, one of their cornerbacks went out with an injure, so this will make that side of the field a probable direction to throw the ball for the Steelers. Another injury that could affect the Vikings offense is that Harvin is questionable with a bruised shoulder. The Steelers also have a good defense like I said before. They are really good at stopping the run, so this will really make Peterson work hard to get any good runs, cutting back yet again on the Vikings offense.

It is not all bad but the Vikings are going to have to do quite a few things right if they want to remain undefeated. When they have the ball the offensive line needs to protect Farve really when. Secondly for the offense, they need to try and get the ball in Petersons hands and then block. Thirdly, they need to make sure that they convert on third downs to keep the Steelers defense on the fiels as long as possible. Fourth, they need to hold onto the ball and not throw any interceptions. Finally they need to be able to block out any crowd noise from the Steeler fans, sinse this game is being played in Pittsburg. Defensively the defensive line needs to get to Ben and force him to make mistakes. Then they need to make sure that they do not give up the big play. They need to get any turnover possible, like in any game. Finally they need to play defense the entire game and not almost lose because they pretty much stopped playing defense in the fourth quarter. I know it may sound like they need to play a pretty flawless game, but they also have to in order to win because the Steelers win get points off of any mistake they make.

Again I am not really sure who will win this game. It will most likely be a very close game, and who ever has the ball last may just be able to win the game. Again I will have to go with a Vikings victory because I have to think positive about the outcome of the game. Last weeks prediction of the score was the farthest off so far this season, so I am not really sure what it should be this week. Anyways it is just an educated guess so here it is.

My game score prediction: Vikings 27 Steelers 24

Crushing Turnovers

Wow! This is really lame. I get home from work and I find out that Nebraska just shot themselves in their foot; and only about eight times. Now if you are an Iowa State fan I do not even want to see you or even speak to you. It was the biggest bulls**t game ever. I am surprised that the Nebraska fans, it was played at Nebraska, didn't just storm the field in anger, but they wouldn't do that because they are pretty good fans when it comes to sportsmanship. It was not even the fact that Iowa State out played them, because them didn't. Nebraska had over a hundred yards more offense than Iowa State in the game, 123 yards to be exact. Their defense was also dominant in allowing only nine points even though the were on the field for the majority of the game, so this game could have easily been won.

I have got something to say to the Nebraska offense: Step it up you dumb***s and hold on to the f***ing football, period. If you can not do this go play somewhere else, or you have one more chance to prove that you can actually score points, and not lean only on your defense. I am sorry you can not expect to win if you commit eight turnover: five fumbles and three interceptions. The offense has been terrible for the past two games. They got spanked by Texas Tech who isn't too bad, but they should have won the game. Being rated 15th and then dropping out of the top 25 after that loss, I thought that that would at least pull them together to improve and try and get better, but in reality they just got worse.

Come on offense just score. Are you afraid? Did you forget your touchdown victory dance? Scared that you might upset the team if you won in your own stadium? Whatever your problem is get over it, and soon. You are now 4 and 3 on the season, and two of those losses have come from just plain out sloppy play. Not being able to catch the ball, just straight up dropping the ball, and throwing untimely interceptions will lose you game after game no matter who you play.

Ok one good side note to two of Nebraska best players: Mr. Suh and Alex Henery. Suh had a great game blocking two kicks; one for an extra point and the other for a field goal. He is also leading Nebraska in tackles as a DT. As for Alex Henery he did about all he could do with pinning Iowa State on their own 2 and 6 yard line, obviously giving them terrible field position.

If Nebraska does not win next week versus Baylor then I think you can kiss away any chance for a bowl game. They had a pretty solid first five games, but now have fallen apart and are not playing like a team at all. Bo you need to do your job and get your team together and go out there and actually have some offense and win some games.

Powerless of Red

I just got done watching the Nebraska vs. Texas Tech game. Man what a disappointment it was too. After coming off a huge fourth quarter victory over Missouri at Missouri and then being ranked 15 in the BCS rankings they are sure to drop way down, and maybe even out of the top 25.

Watching this game just made me feel crappy. They played crappy, they got crappy calls by the referees, and provided for a crappy game to watch. I do not how it could have gotten any more crappy. The defense got their blackshirts yesterday, and today played like they hadn't even heard of the term. They allowed 17 points just in the first half. Then a total of 24 at the end of the game. They didn't commit any turn overs and got only a couple of sacks throughout the entire game. They did play a little better the second half, but still being ranked the second best defense and only allowing on average 8 points a game before this, they didn't play up to keeping the blackshirts.

Since the defense did play better the second half you would think that the offense would feed off of that success of the defense and get on a roll since the Texas Tech defense would be on the field more and get more tired. Wrong. If anything they just liked to be on the field and use up clock time. This could be proven by the ridicules amount of penalties that they committed. It made me shout out at the television, which I usually do not do, because I was so upset. Then there were the calls that were just terrible by the refs. Not as bad as the one that that baseball ump made during the Twins vs. Yankees game; who called Joe Mauers hit foul after bouncing off the Yankees outfielders glove and then landing well six inches inbounds, by the way that call could have cost the Twins the game. Don't get me started on that though. It seemed though that the refs were calling everything on the Huskers and practically nothing on Texas Tech unless it was so obvious that they would get fired from their job for beating caught cheating by taking a side. To cool my steam off, even though it doesn't make me feel any better about the loss, I just need to realize what is done is done and no matter what I say or how much of it I say it won't change the result of the game, For that reason I am done talking and typing abo.......

Not the Claws

Just a while ago Ditto had the honor, like both of our other cats, of getting his front and back claws taken out. Since our cats never do make it outside because they are inside cats there is just not a reason for them to have their claws, except to tear up on the furniture. So Ditto headed off for the vet in the morning to have his surgery. It would be three days until I would see him back at home again, because he had to stay there overnight for two nights. My mom called to see how he was doing after he was declawed, and when they went to go look in kennel he was in, they found a little kitty laying on his back now purring because of their presence, obviously doing just fine.

After two days he was able to come home. His feet were pretty sore, but it didn't really show because he had just as much energy as every. Although later in the day he was sound asleep in his bad catching up on some Z's. I knew that Ditto was going to get declawed, so the night before I took a picture of his paw with his claws, and then afterwards with no claws. These two pictures can be seen at the top of this blog.

Pruple vs Navy Battle

This weeks game is muy importante for both of the teams playing each other this week. On the deep rooted purple side of the Vikings they will try and go 6 and 0, the first time that Farve will have been 6 and 0 in all the seasons he has played in so far. As for the buffed up navy/purple Baltimore Ravens they are coming off two back to back losses, the first one against the New England Patriots and the second from the Cincinnati Bengals. With a win from either team would be crucial looking on towards later in the year and the post season.

The Vikings are 5 and 0 after a 38 to 10 victory from the St. Louis Rams. By the way I predict the score of the Vikings game each week and for the past four weeks I had been very close to getting the actual score; only a touchdown or field goal off. This last week though I totally called the Vikings winning 38 to 10, so it is pretty awesome. Anyway to get back on track this is the first time for Farve in all of his NFL seasons to start at 5 and 0, so that can only look to be positive about he is playing and how the team as a whole is playing. The Ravens on the other hand are 3 and 2 so far on the season. Their record though is actually deceiving. They are actually a decent team. They have a pretty good quarterback and offense that could rack up some points on you at any time. Also their defense is pretty good at stopping the run and overall their defense is one of the best in the game right now. Their two losses have been quite close games, and they have been making dumb mistakes and getting stupid penalties called at really inconvenient times during the game. I am saying all this because this weeks game will be the hardest so far for the Vikings and even maybe a little too much for them even if they are playing at home. The Ravens will be looking for a win and will be playing maybe a little harder than usual. The Vikings do have a strong confidence right now being 5 and 0 and all, but this confidence may hurt them. I am not saying a loss is ever good, but if they would happen to lose this game it might help them realize that they still have work to do before most likely reaching the post season.

Key things for this game to result in a Vikings victory. First of all is would be great if the offensive line could make big holes for Adrian Peterson. Last week Cedric Benson of the Bengals broke the Ravens streak of not allowing a 100 yard rusher with 120 yards. It would be great to see Peterson do that very same thing because then the pressure on Farve will much less. That kind of leads into the next thing. The Ravens are a very physical football team, so they will be bringing it on Farve all day with lots of pressure and blitzes. If Farve can get out of this and still be able to throw the ball effectively then they will be fine, but if Farve is getting popped around like a little bobble head I just worried that he will get hurt. As for when the Ravens have the ball, if the front four of the Vikings are able to apply pressure on Joe Flacco the rest of the defense should be able to hold up. If they need extra help to get at the quarterback the defense might be a little more shaky because of the less protection down the field that is then going for the quarterback. I have a feeling that this game will be very close and that in fact, as much as I hate to say this, the Vikings may get a loss because of a pretty good Ravens team that is starving for a win, and why not got your win and give the other team their first loss all in the same game. It will be a well fought game no matter who happens to win it. Go Vikings; 6 and 0!

I am having a really hard time deciding my prediction of the game score. I can't even really decide who I think is going to win the game. I think I am going to go with a lower to medium scoring game. Probably around in the mid twenties. Also the difference of the two scores being about three to six points, a field goal or two, difference. Now I am going to have to go with my team. Right? Yeah I have got to believe that they can beat a legitimate team. Soooo my game score prediction. No drum roll necessary.

My hopeful game score prediction: Vikings 24 Ravens 17

Quite the Character

Now that my family has had Ditto for a while I am beginning to realize his personality. Like you probably know your pets are kind of like people. They are members of your family, so they add their own type of living in your family, and often change it up a little. This is very obvious in the role Ditto now adds to our family.

Ditto can either piss you off or make you laugh and smile. He has natural sense of being happy. He really enjoys peoples company and often chooses to be around you. One example of his happy go lucky out look on life was shown when he had to go to the vet and began to purr even when he was getting a couple shots. I think that he just likes to purr though because you don't even have to touch him and he will begin to purr for you.

One thing that is kind of frustrating about him though is that he really likes to nibble on your hands even if you are just trying to pet him. He has a lot of energy and thinks that you are trying to play with him all the time. He also likes to bother our other two cats by running up to them and then jumping into the air, or just plain ramming into them and tackling them. His is still quite a bit smaller than our other cats so I don't know why h thinks he can go and beat up on them.

One odd thing about Ditto is that he likes to sleep in interesting places. For example he likes to sleep under the piano and on the bathroom rugs. None of our other cats have ever tried to sleep here, mostly because I don't think that either place would be that comfortable or feel that safe. Another kind of weird thing is that he has a pretty weak roar. His meow is kind of pathetic, but he really like to talk and complain to you. Ditto in general is a little strange, but is really friendly and likes to play.

Belated Monday Review

So I know it is kind of late to blog about this last weeks Monday night football game, but I am going to inform you any way. If you missed it you really missed out on probably the best game of the NFL season yet. It played up to be like a playoff game in just the fourth week of the season. The Vikings played and defeated the Packers 30 to 23.

The game play was quite different then normal for the Vikings. Brett Farve has had two back to back large games, and Adrian Peterson can say quite the opposite. Although Peterson says that it doesn't really bother him that he isn't having big games as long as they are winning the games, I still sense that he does want to have big games in their victories. One good thing about the fact that Peterson isn't able to run well is the Vikings are still able to win because the passing game has opened up. Farve had three touchdown passes in Mondays game.

The score of the game, in my opinion, does not show how close this game really was at times. The Packers could have won this game if it weren't for the Vikings goal line defense, some key turnovers, and the poor protection Aaron Rodgers had. On the one yard line for fourth and goal the Packers went for it and failed. This wasn't the first time the Vikings were able to stop a team on the one yard line on fourth and goal. I believe that the same thing happened last year against the Chicago Bears. Turnovers which were a fumble and interception dug the Packers into a hole. The Packers were driving when Winfield made a great interception. Lastly and probably the biggest reason why the Packers lost was because the offensive line of the Packers could not protect Rodgers to save their lives. Rodgers was sacked eight time through out the game. Four and a half of these came Jared Allen. Overall though teams have problems and the Vikings had their own during times in the game, so I am not making would of, could of, and should of's.

The Vikings should be 5 and 0 after this weekends game. They get to play the St. Louis Rams who are 0 and 4 so far on the year. I really hope that Peterson has a big game to boost his convidence and still show that he can control the game. Anything less then a ten point victory I think will be a dissapointment because right now the Vikings just now to buckle down and make it to their bye week because they have to face more difficult teams then the Rams.

My game score prediction: Vikings 38 Rams 10
Oh and by the way I just wanted to point out that so far my score predictions have been pretty close, now this one will probably be way off now that I said this. Oh well.

The Sick Blog

Missing school is way over rated. I just don't understand why some people skip class. Usually it is because they are not very good in that subject, so instead of going they decide it would be better to just not go at all. This is such bull crap though. I mean if they don't like the class because they are not very good at it, then the only way to get better is to actually show up for class with your thinking cap on. Right now I am in the position of not even having the choice of going to class. Currently I am sick, but of course life doesn't stop for you to catch up, but instead just continues on even faster. Catching up on homework and making up tests, that is what missing classes in high school is all about.

In grade school missing school was awesome. You had just about one teacher and she would feel really bad for you and not make you make up all the assignments because you were just this little, innocent child. Then once you hit middle school, missing school wasn't too bad, but now at this age you aren't as cute so you are still expected to make up the work. There isn't too much make up work if you just missed a few days, but if you missed a week of school it was kind of hard to catch up. The gears then switch into over drive when you are in high school. It is like your teachers punish you for missing a day of class. Not just one of your teachers does this, but all of them do, so then it is just about six times worse. This is why I hate missing school now, especially when you are just sick. It is not like you are enjoying yourself at home when you are sick, but more like your head is going to explode when you just try to stand up. You feel terrible for a few days because you are sick, and then you feel terrible again because now you have hours of make up work to do into the wee hours of the morning. The irony of it all is that you probably got sick in the first place because of all the germs and sick kids at school! So right now I am sick, writing this blog post for homework just to find out that even though I am trying to stay ahead or at least on the same page, I am just slowly falling back into the many pages of make up work that I know will be lurking around each corner.

Tips to stay healthy:
1. Wash your hands often, so when you high five your best friend you are not giving them the middle finger of germs.
2. Make sure that you are getting enough sleep, more stuff happens when you are asleep then you may think.
3. Cover your cough or sneeze with your elbow or tissue, nobody wants to get a nice germy shower.
4. Eat healthy, your body needs the right nutrition to fight off those bad guys.
5. Finally if you do get sick stay at home, it sucks to miss school with all of the make up homework, but just think of all those other wonderful highschoolers that are sitting in their classes wishing they were somewhere else doing something else until it actually happens.

Big Monday Night

It is early afternoon and normally I am just waiting for the Vikings game that is usually at noon. Today is different though. I am still nervous for the game and can'y wait to watch it, but it is not even on Sunday! This weeks game, the Vikings are playing their biggest, most looked up to game of the season. It all happens on Monday night and I can not wait. They are playing Brett Farves former team, the Green Bay Packers. This game is a lot bigger than normal because of one person on the Vikings team, and I already mentioned him. Brett Farve. A couple years ago there was some troubles between the Packers and Farve. They didn't really want him to come back, and that year he went to the Jets. After playing a year with the Jets, he retired again. But then the Vikings changed his mind , and so now he is playing for the the Vikings even after all of the drama between him being able to play well enough etc. Now tomorrows game will be the first time that Farve will be playing his original team. Now all the players and coaches are saying that it is just another game, and that they just need to focus on the basics and win, but you all know that this look upon this game is a little too laid back. There is a lot to this game, and even if it is just another football game it has so much more hidden inside. If Farve wins, then Farve will be the first player ever in NFL history to play ever team in the league and win. Also this game is kind of a way to prove to his former team that he is still pretty good, and still has it. The only thing that I am kind of worried about is that Farve will try to do too much and force the football, creating costly errors. As long as he remembers that he has the best running back in the league behind him, and if the running game is going better than the passing game, then it is ok for him to just hand it off to Adrian Peterson. Overall I think that they can win this game, but it should be pretty interesting hense the reason why it is also on Monday night football.

My prediction is that the game will be pretty close, but since the game is being played at the Vikings home stadium, the Metrodome, the home environment will guide the Vikings to a victory.

My game score prediction: Vikings 27 Packers 24

Memory of History

Sitting down I didn't know what to expect. I mean it was just my first time ever. Then it just kind of happens; when 86,304 people stand up and scream like no other. It was my first time ever going to a college football game, and it was huge. The word huge isn't even large enough to describe how massive it was, and if my vocabulary was a bit more broad there is probably the perfect word to describe the intensity of it all. It was a sell out crowd, but this was no normal sell out this sell out was special. Special in many ways like: that it was a Nebraska Cornhusker game, it was their homecoming game, the Huskers wore the throw back uniforms, and it was my first ever college football game that I have seen live. Still one more thing made this game even more important, and the only way it was able to happen was by the 299 other games leading up to this game. It was the 300th consecutive home sell out game for Nebraska! This is a NCAA record that no other college football team is even close to or able to touch. This record started 47 years ago on November 3, 1962! The last non sell out game for the Huskers at home was on October 20, 1962. The crowd of 86,304 in Memorial Stadiam also set the record for most people at a Nebraska Cornhusker game. The fun thing about this is that Memorial Stadium isn't even really suppose to seat that many people in it. It was one of the most amazing thing in my life.

Being part of the Sea of Red in the stadium, plus a little bonus in being in the student section made it even more than real life. As seen in the picture above it is practically all red, besides the few Husker fans that decide to wear either a black or white Husker shirt. I had to get there a hour before the game even started to just get a seat, because there were probably already over 50,000 people in the stadium. Sitting in my spot I got to see all of the pre game show. I got to see the all the players warm up. Also I got to hear the intro to all the player on the Nebraska team. That was cool, because if you don't the huskers defense is called the Blackshirt and it was pretty intense. Husker fans enjoy and cheer for their defense as much if not more during some parts of the game than for their offense. Then when the Husker team came out for real there was a deafening roar, and it was like this for almost the entire game. The game itself was not very good if you like a close game, but if you like a smack down then this was a very entertaining game. The Husker beat the Cajans 55 to nothin. Although even if you do not like blow outs this game was still fun. The crowd participation was at an all time high compared to any football game, mostly because Nebraska has some of the most dedicated and loyal fans; hanse the reason for the record for sell outs. I was able to do many different cheers. They included: screaming your head off when the Huskers leave the tunnel, the releasing of the balloons after the first touchdown, which was screwed up in this game though because people let them go after the first score which was a field goal, the cheer after scoring, the screaming during a big play, the loud rumble of SUH, the last name of a really good defense lineman, shouting bullshit when the refs make a terrible call and everone in the stadium knows it, and a rejoiceing loud sound after the Huskers have won the game, by this time most people are really close to losing their voice.

I was just blown away by the outstanding fan support, sportsmanship, and the entirety o the game. Since this was a special moment for Nebraska Cornhusker history they had a special film of some of the special moments in their football history on their video screen with fireworks coming out the sides. It was really cool. I took some pictures of the game while I was there. All but the one that was taken from the sky was clearly not taken by me. Let me just say that if you missed this game, you really missed out on a great piece of history.

Nine Lives

Now just about everybody knows the saying, "Every cat has nine lives". Of course this is just a saying and it is clearly not true, but in some cases it can seem very much real. An example happened just after a few days that we got Ditto.

If you have ever been inside my house then you would know what I am talking about, but since most people haven't I will explain. My home is a bi-level house. When you walk in, there is a little area and then some stairs either going up or down. The stair to the right go up and the stairs going down are then on the left. Going up the left side of the stairs leading to the top floor, there is a built in flat hand rail type of thing. It is basically a piece if wood that runs down the top of a top width of a wall. This type of design then wraps around the top of the stair case, but just on the top floor, creating a flat railing that is on top of a shorter wall in our living room.

Cats enjoy to hang out on top of high places. Our other two cats enjoy sitting or laying down on the railing. It does seem like a habit though that so far every one of our pets have fallen off the top of the railing and fell to the bottom of the stair case, including our dog. When it was no different for Ditto either. I didn't actually see it happen, but you just know the sound. I sitting in the living room up stairs watching television when I heard this slipping sound, and then a louder thump. I sprang up to see what had happened. Looking down the stair case I saw Ditto looking back up at me, with a face full of surprise and shock. His whole body was puffed up, and his tail was large like a marshmallow in the microwave. It is pretty surprising to see them be just fine after falling over 16 feet down and falling on a harder surface. Now in my case, Ditto lost one of his nine lives that day.

At a loss for Words

Naturally I missed the Vikings game this weekend because it wasn't televised, and I was also traveling back into Iowa. Of course it was the biggest game so far for the Vikings this year, and their home opener. As soon as I got home and logged on to my lab top and searched for the game it wasn't to difficult to find because it was only the first thing I saw on NFL.com. "Brett Farve throws the game winning touchdown", What? Are you kidding me? I had to look in farther and get the video of the play, and a video of the highlights. Here are two links to see something awesome. First this is the link to just the last second play: http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/videos/Favres-Game-Winning-Touchdown-Pass-vs-49ers/34211939-a886-4981-9153-70e9fa6dff00. Secondly here is one to the highlights of the game: http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/videos/Favres-Game-Winning-Touchdown-Pass-vs-49ers/34211939-a886-4981-9153-70e9fa6dff00#?id=b26281a1-e6b7-4f4c-99a2-da55563f6c8e. As you should have seen the whole game was practially a highlight. The last play kind of covers up the 101 yard kick return by the speedy Percy Harvin, which was outstanding too. As for a whole for the Vikings this game was HUGE. Next weeks game on Monday night is going to be just as big versus the Green Bay Packers. At top as you probably saw there are some pics of the big plays of the game. Lets go 4-o!

The Running Back Face Off

Lasts weeks game against the Lions resulted in a win, as expected. My prediction of the game score was very close for this game too. My prediction was Vikings 31 to Lions 13; the actually ending scores were, Vikings 27 to Lions 13. Just some quick key plays. Chad Greenway had a great game with two interceptions. Brett Farve had a pretty good day too completing 23 of 27 passes. Adrian Peterson had a little less average day than usual for him, but still managed 92 yards and a touchdown run going around the outside edge. One thing out of this game that I saw that sort of worries me a little is that the Vikings defense allowed the Lions running back more than a hundred yards. They hadn't allowed a hundred yard rushing since 2007 versus the Green Bay Packers. I know that part of it was that the Lions ran way more run plays, than pass plays, so they will get rushing yards, but the run defense wasn't quite as lights out.

Another reason for being slightly worried about the run defense is that the Vikings play the California 49ers, and they have one of the best running backs, of course not better than Adrian Peterson though. Frank Gore, the running back of the 49ers, had an amazing game last week with 207 rushing yards against the Seattle Seahawks. If the Viking defense doesn't step up some the same thing could happen to them.

Now you can see why the title of this blog is what it is. Adrian Peterson vs. Frank Gore. Of course I think that AD, Adrian Petersons nickname that is short for All Day, will be able to have the better game, but a lot depends on the offensive and the defensive lines of both teams that will help decide the victor of this game. I hope to see another big day out of Percy Harvin, because he has had a touchdown catch in both the first two games. I also hope to see Farve getting comfortable throwing some bigger plays, but then still understanding that he has one of the best running backs to hand off too.

This weeks game will be the most difficult team for the Vikings so far in their season, even if it is their first home game. I still predict that the Vikings will win the game, and the game won't be too close, but still not a blow out. Now for my prediction of the score. Purple Power!

Vikings win: Vikings: 31 49ers: 17

You Name It

By now the kitten has lived through quite a bit: a near death hanging by a jump rope starving, starving over night in a cabin, and a long ride home starving. I still can't believe how much food the kitten was able to eat. Now that we were home we needed a place for her to sleep, and needed a name. We found a cat bed and picked up some kitten food on the way home, and put her in the laundry room. That was the easy part. The name, what should we name her?

Like I said earlier we have two other cats named Dixie and Wonder. Dixie got her name becuase we got her in Kentucky, hence the south. Wonder got her name simply because like now we wondered what her name should be, so Wonder it was. Now my family also has one dog, Mayday. He got his name because one time my family and I went fishing at a lake and caught a dog. Not literally, but we weren't catching much fish on one spot of the lake, so my Dad and I went to look for another good fishing spot. We came across an open area of lake, and noticed this little dog bark at us. We went over there to fish, and the dog warmed up to us. The dog didn't have a tag and we had been talking about getting a smaller dog before, so we brought him home with us. I am pretty sure that we didn't catch any fish that day, nut we got a dog! He got his name because we went fishing and picked him up on May Day, May 1st just in case you didn't know.

Now we were in the same position again, to come up with a name. We had to take her to the vet the next day and still didn't have a name to her. It turned out to be ok that we didn't have a name though, because much to our surprise her was now a him. It wasn't like it really mattered because we still didn't have a name for a guy cat either. Then the next day my mom and I were watching some show and it went to commercials. Now I don't usually pay attention to commercials, but for some reason this one was a little more interesting. I do not recall what the commercial was, or was for, but I do remember that it had the word ditto in it, and this kind of stuck out.

Now if you know what ditto means it will make sense to why this name works, but if you don't then you may be slightly lost. So here are two of my definitions of ditto. First of all, if you were cool in about second grade you had huge decks of pokemon cards. One of those pokemon is called Ditto. If you can just bear with me here and think back to what his moves were that would be great. Good, now the only move that he could do was transform, and this made him take on the being of the enemy pokemon. Now if you weren't cool in second grade then this definition of ditto probably doesn't help that much. So, a more true and realistic definition would be ditto means the same or copy of something, like want Ditto does. To link why it was sensable to name our kitten Ditto was because Wonder is a tabby and the kitten is a tabby and looks fairly alike to Wonder. Also if you might be wondering what Dixie is, which you probably aren't but I going to tell you any ways, she is just a completely lightish gray cat. Yeah I think I made up lightish but oh well. So now the kitten has: been near death hanging by a jump rope starving, starving over night in a cabin, lived through a long drive home starving, and now to put the cherry on top, thought by everyone for the first few days that he was a girl while starving. Now we have a name for our kitten, Ditto. The picture at the top is a picture of him a few days after we got him.

For Kicks and No Giggles

Saturday number 19 Nebraska played at number 13 Virginia Tech. The game was close the whole time, and it came down to the last minute to decide the winner. Unfortunatley the winner of the game wasn't the Huskers.

Virginia Tech scored first in the game with a touchdown. Nebraska came back and scored a field goal kick, by their kicker Alex Henery. Then another, and another. The score at 9 to 7 Nebraska leading. Then Virginia Tech made a field goal. Lastly before the end of the half Henery kicked again and made his fourth field goal of the game. The third quarter was all defense for both of the teams. Then with less than five minutes left in the game Henery was able to kick again another field goal; kicking a best five field goals in one game, putting Nebraska ahead 15 to 10. Nebraska got the ball back with 2:07 left in the game, but left too much time on the clock after they weren't able to get a first down. Virginia Tech got the ball back with 1:44 left in the game, and bombed it down the field to complete a 81 yard pass. It was third and goal and the Virginia Tech's quarterback was scrambling, but much to my disappointment he found a reciever in the end zone, to put them up 16 to 15. They went for a two point conversion, but failed. It didn't matter though because with only 21 seconds left in the game Nebraska wasn't able to do anything.

It was a really tough game for the Huskers. They had many chances to win the game, but just weren't able to convert. They couldn't quite pull the upset. Though they lost, Alex Henery was clutch making five of five field goals, and punting the fourth longest punt in Nebraska history with a 76 yard rocket. Had they also won, it would have been the first time since 1927 that they won without scoring a touchdown. Lets hope they learn from this loss, put it behind them, and go home next week to blow up Louisiana Layfayette at the 300th consectutive sold out home game.

The Ride Home

If you have ever had to go to the vet with your pet or moved and taken your pet with you, you probably know it isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world to travel with your pet. Now we were looking at a 6 to 7 hour drive with a little curious kitten in the van with us. The night before we got a little cup of food for it, so it wouldn't be that hungry. The problem with that was that it was hungry in the morning so we gave it the food. We took the lid off a box and put a little liter in it so if it had to go to the bathroom it could while we were driving. While the start of the drive the kitten was pretty well behaved and just liked to snoop around in the van. Then it took a short nap on my brother's lap.

It was shortly after noon and we were getting hungry, so we stopped at McDonalds since that is what my brother decided he wanted. We went through the drive through and got our order and everything was fine, until the kitten decided that it too wanted some McDonalds really bad. It began to meow in a complaining sort of tone for the food. The kitten was still sitting in the back with my brother, who was trying to he his chicken sandwich, when it began to crawl up the front of his shirt to get closer to the sandwich. The kitten was very persistent, so my brother gave it a small piece of the chicken, in hopes that it would stop meowing and stop clawing its way up his shirt. Nope, no such luck; it just kept it up until everyone in the car had finished their McDonalds.

After a while the little kitten got tired again, and instead of just sleeping on my lap it decided it would be a good idea to cram itself between the back of the seat and my back and sleep there for over a hour.. It wasn't very comfortable for me, but it slept there until we got to Waverly. We decided that DQ sounded good so we stopped in and got some ice cream. Just like magic the kitten saw us eating again and started up again meowing for the food. We knew it had a be a little hungry because it hadn't eaten since this morning, and kittens eat quite a bit, but we didn't really want to give it fast food. It again crawled and begged until we were all done eating. Then again it took a nap, on my lap this time. When we began to get close to home there was a really big thunderstorm, but that didn't seem to mind the kitten who slept through it until right when the garage door was opened and we were home with one extra furry feline.

A Look into the Vikings Next Game

Just like last weeks game against the Browns, this weeks game should be a pretty easy win. They get the honor of playing the division rival, the Detroit Lions. Last year, as many of you may know, the Lions yet winless, 0 and 16. I don't think that the Vikings will give them their first win this year, that is if the Lions get a win this year, but I think they may win at least one game this year.

Just a short recap of last weeks game against the Cleveland Browns may get you pumped for this weeks game. The Vikings didn't try anything superb but they got the win. They started out a little slow in the first half of the game. They were actually losing 10 to 13 at the half. Partly because they allowed a punt return in the closing minutes of the half, and they tried a short kick on the opening kick of the game to see if the Browns special teams were paying attention, in which they were, so they started with really good field position on their opening drive of the game. The Vikings overall defense really only allowed the Browns ten points. The second half of the game was quite a bit better. The Vikings scored three touchdowns and a field goal in the last half of the game, and only allowed a last minute touchdown by the Browns that didn't really matter, because they were going to win anyway. The final score was 34 to 20, Vikings win.

One play though that I do want to cover is the 64 yard run by my favorite, Adrian Peterson. I included a link so you could see this superhuman run this ball down for a touchdown against the Browns. So here is the link to the amazing video and slight discussion of how it all went down:
http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/videos/Anatomy-of-a-Play--Petersons-64-yard-TD-Run/130434ee-bda7-4609-b306-f72499904ff4. After watching the video I couldn't believe it and I just had to laugh at what was said on the sidelines. He made five guys miss him, and then was able to dart into a dead sprint to just plainly out run the last few guys to make it into the end zone. My favorite part was right about the end of the video clip at about minute four when you can see that the last guy that missed him; Adrian just shoved him down by the top of his helmet. He made the guy look so weak, because the guy just fell flat on his butt. I am sure that Adrian will have more good runs this year so keep an eye out for more video clips of his outstanding runs. Although it was Adrian that actually ran the ball, I also have to give credit to the blockers up front at the line and then Rice, the wide receiver, for making key blocks in the open field. Without these people Adrian wouldn't be able to do what he is so good at.

Back to this up coming game. There isn't much to talk about. The Vikings should win and Adrian Peterson should have another pretty good game. Differently though I hope to see a little more on Farve's part of throwing the ball, and hopefully one big pass play. I also hope to see a few more sacks by the front four, and that they get a bit more pressure on the quarterback. This will hopefully be a fun game to watch the Vikings topple over the Lions. My prediction of this weeks game: Vikings: 31 Lions: 13

Win for The Cornhuskers

Yipee! Another strong performance by the Nebraska Cornhuskers, with a win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves. The final score of this game was a 38 to 9 victory in Memorial stadium. This was also the 299th consecutive sell out game for the Huskers in Memorial stadium. I will be fortunate enough to be able to go to the 300th consecutive sell out game on September 26th when the Huskers play Louisiana- Lafayette, this is also their homecoming game. I expect to be in a huge flood of red at this milestone game, and enjoying every minute of it.

Now back to reviewing todays game. The Huskers came out strong right on their first drive, and went down the field to score a touchdown. The Blackshirts, the Huskers defense nickname, stopped the Red Wolves on their first drive, or lack there of. The Huskers would again march down the field and score another touchdown. After this score the Huskers could have been done because their defense only allowed nine points for the entire game, and the Huskers led 14 to 0 before the end of the first quarter. The Huskers would again score a few more times, and let the Red Wolves score a touchdown, but they missed the extra point far right. Nebraska led the whole game and never looked back. Some key players of todays game for the Huskers were their quarterback, Zac Lee, who threw for four touchdowns and 340 yards, receivers, Niles Paul and Mike McNeill, who picked up some touchdowns, and lastly Ndamukong Suh, who had tackles for a loss of yards and 1.5 sacks.

For next weeks game the Huskers are going to have to travel to Number 14th ranked Virginia Tech. By the way the Cornhuskers are ranked 22nd. This will be their most difficult game so far this year because of Virginia Techs rating and because this will be their first away game. Good luck to them in their hopeful upset.

Hopeful Vikings Season, Plus Opener

I know that when school starts up again, there is always something right behind it. The NFL season. Although my weekend is full of homework and other random activities, I know that some how I will find time to watch the Vikings season opening game at the Cleveland Browns. I believe that this will be a fun game to watch and it will be a relatively easy game for the Vikings to start their long season, and hopeful Super Bowl win. Yes, I want to already talk about the Super Bowl because the Vikings have the best chance this year than any near prior year before this. There are quite a few reasons for the hopeful season.

First off during the off season the Vikings did a good job picking up, then not picking up, and then yet again picking up Brett Farve. This was their biggest add on because what the Vikings lacked the most last year was an experienced quarterback. Now you may say that he is too old and his arm has lost some of its strength. Now what I say to that is that, yes this is Farve's nineteenth season in the NFL, and yes he is forty years old, and he did have problems with his arm, BUT he has experience, and if you saw some of his throws in the pre-season his arm looked plenty strong to me, and if he came back you would think that he would be able to add something to the team, and then lastly he can be a mentor for Travaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels in their becoming better quarterbacks. Then during the draft they signed wide receiver Percy Harvin from Flordia and offensive tackle Phil Loadholt from Oklahoma. Percy Harvin is an excellent football player with terrific speed. Phil Loadholt is a big guy and was part of the Oklamhoma offensive that set a record for 51 averaged points a game and 547 yards per game. There is no way the offense can put numbers up like those without excellent protection of the quarterback. With these recruitments over the off season the Vikings just got that much more explosive and to be potential Super Bowl Champions. Not to jinx anything, knock on wood, the only thing that could really hold the Vikings back this year would be injuries, but of course that is not going to happen.

So back to the opening game. The Vikings couldn't of really asked for a better match up in their favor even if they asked to. If you look back at last years overall stats the Cleveland Browns allowed 151.9 rush yard per game. Now picture Adrian Peterson, the best and I repeat the best football player in the NFL, just mowing down that defense. Sounds like fun! Then if the Browns put eight defenders on Peterson, then kapow Farve completes a quick slant reception to either wide out Percy Harvin or Bernard Berrian, or tight end Visanthe Shiancoe who are wide open and get a huge gain of yards. Then comes the Vikings defense. With three Pro Bowlers: Kevin Williams, Pat Williams, and Jared Allen, on the defensive front line they will cause enough problems to the Browns offense. Then add on safety Antoine Winfield in the secondary and some under rated linebackers in the middle; the Vikings had one of the best run defenses in the league, allowing only 76.9 yards a game. Their special teams should be just fine too.

One thing that makes this game a little more interesting is that Brett Farve played for the New York Jets last year and the former New York Jets coach, Eric Mangini, now is the coach for the Browns. Now in the season opener they are going head to head.

I feel that the Vikings should win relatively easy against the Browns this sunday. I plan to look for Adrian Peterson with big runs, and Brett Farve being able to pick apart the Browns secondary with their attention on Peterson. The Vikings defense should do fine even though the Browns are keeping their starting quarterback on the down low. My prediction for the game: The Browns are going down. Go Vikes!

My prediction of the score: Vikings: 27 Browns: 10

The Rescue

Over the summer my family and I went on a vacation to Minnesota to visit some relatives. We were driving to an uncle's to stay the night, my dad and I in the car and my mom and brother in the van. I was driving ahead of my mom, so when I looked out the rearveiw mirror and didn't see her I knew she had turned off to go to the garage sale which was off down another street. I continued onto my uncles because I knew that they would go there anyway. After a while hanging around my uncle's I got a call from my mom asking if it was alright if we got a kitten.

OK side note. We already have two cats named Dixie and Wonder. We got Dixie because we were coming home from a state park in Kentucky when we saw a free kittens sign, and stopped to have a look. Naturally we got one. We got Wonder at the pet store we use to go to in Ohio, but she was part of a rescue litter from someone who gave them to the per store. In the past we use to have a cat named Tasha that my dad picked up from work in Illinois. Now we were going to get a kitten from a garage that was also free!?

My mom explained that the person holding the garage sale told her that earlier a coulpe of boys were hanging the kitten by its neck with a jump rope. We didn't really need another cat but, this one needed to be rescued too. So we got it. One of the blogs that I post weekly will catch me up to present day, and then will continue on until the kitten, I don't want to use a name because that comes later, becomes an adult cat.

Introduction Blog

This is my first blog, so cut me some slack. I guess that I have been missing out on something that is very popular. I am going to give it go, and try to make it interesting. I don't care what you use my blog for, as long as it isn't your way to fall asleep. Cool!
